MANUTIUS PRINTING SHOP

The Manutius printing shop is one of the few remaining printing shops in Greece where the traditional methods of printing are still being practised. The shop uses primarily Monotype setting and hand type composition for corrections after proofing. Apart from the Heidelberg machine for printing, Manutius is also equipped with an active Linotype machine, though rarely used nowadays. The printing shop was founded over thirty years ago by Christos Manousaridis and was acquired by Kotinos publications five years ago. A walk around the shop is fundamental to the education of every graphic or type designer and the people there are more than helpful in explaining the printing process to the visitor. Now seeking young people to train to this craft, the Manutius printing shop is hoping to the longevity of this traditional method of printing.
